What To Enter
- Current full cases: unopened cases currently on hand.
- Current loose 8-piece units: individual 8-piece units on hand outside full cases.
- Upcoming catering pieces needed: total individual chicken pieces needed for known catering orders.
What The Truck Day Means
The calculator uses the device date and time to decide which truck order is being calculated. The displayed truck day should be checked before using the recommendation.
If the truck day looks wrong, do not use the result until the ordering schedule or device time has been checked.
Sales Coverage Target
The sales coverage target is the number of 8-piece units the store is trying to have available across current inventory plus this order.
In plain terms: inventory plus this order should cover sales until the following truck.
How Catering Is Counted
Catering is entered as individual pieces. The calculator converts those pieces into 8-piece units and rounds up, because partial 8-piece units still require a full unit to be available.
Why Orders Round Up
8-piece units are ordered in full cases of 12. If the shortage is even one unit more than a full-case amount, the calculator rounds up to the next case.
Current Assumptions
- Monday truck coverage target: 48 units
- Wednesday truck coverage target: 48 units
- Friday truck coverage target: 61 units
These targets are working assumptions and may change after the store compares actual product loss and stockouts.
